WHAT IS YOUR JOB? TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF
Kia Ora, I’m Cam. I’m from the Mount but currently reside on the Sunny North Shore (Auckland, not Hawaii). My girlfriend, Emily and I live by the beach in Devonport. It’s a cool old village with nice architecture, small mountains that offer big views and there are nice swimming spots.
Not much surf, unfortunately.
I work as a filmmaker and photographer and get to work with a really cool mix of clients. In a week I might shoot a fashion campaign and then wind up on a farm shooting a story in another region of NZ. Being self-employed gives me a lot of freedom which I love and I’m lucky to have a good relationship with my clients.
WHAT FOOD CAN YOU NOT LIVE WITHOUT?
Hmmm, Vogel’s probably. Soy & Linseed, the Kiwi staple. Been loving our Reed avocados from The Avo Tree. Coffee and beer are usually a daily thing, never together but one at each end of the day is a vibe.
WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO?
As I type, Petals by TOPS. But in general, it’s a huge mix of friend’s playlists on Spotify. Check out the Crystal Cylinder playlists, they have some bangers.
Dur-Dur band is on high rotation at the moment, nice tunes.
WHAT ARE YOU WATCHING?
I have clocked The Fall, Tiger King, and Ozark during iso. Ozark was so good! Apart from that I’ve been watching some cooking shows, too much YouTube, and revisiting some favorite films.
WHAT ARE YOU READING?
The Messanger by Markus Zusak, which I got for Christmas. It’s taken a global pandemic for me to pick a novel up again but I’m loving it. It’s been nice to have time to flick through my photography books too. One that stands out is called View From The Road. It’s by photographer, Arno Gasteiger, documenting the length of State Highway 1 NZ, small towns, locals, road-side observations.
It’s inspired me to see more of our beautiful country.
FAVE MEAL MADE/BAKED IN ISO?
We’ve been missing our local curry joint so I made a Palak Paneer the other night. It was so good, Here is the recipe. Turned out better than expected and served with homemade garlic naan, courtesy of Emily. 10/10.
A QUOTE YOU LIVE BY?
“To live a life of balance and integrity.”
WHO ARE SOME LOCAL LEGENDS YOU WANTED TO BE SUPPORTING ONCE OUT OF ISO? (BRANDS, RESTAURANTS, ETC).
Châteaubriant is our local coffee joint, we’ll be going there asap. As well as Sigdi, our local Indian. I’m going to order some winter kit from friends, Commoners, and also an online store, Crystal Cylinder.
When’s the next Cherry style out? Oiii, maybe this Summer if you're lucky!
Peace & Love.
